Second Life Chinese School Introduction

Design Concept :: Enrollment Information

Second Life Chinese School on Chinese Island is a place where you can enjoy the beauty of Chinese culture and natural oriental landscape with a scent of history and modern life. It is a place you can come into to learn Chinese language and culture on your own or take a class. By visiting your friends in the apartment building and role playing a tea party together, you can hear how to say "你喜欢喝什么茶 (Nǐ xǐhuan hē shénme chá" and chose whether you would like to have "green tea" or "chrysanthemum tea". You can go "淼月餐馆(Miǎoyuè Cānguǎn" and have an authentic Chinese meal after a long day shopping in "wang fu jing street". At the end of the day, you will realize you were able to use Chinese to bargain for the most beautiful jade you have seen and to order the most delicious food in Second Life.

Chinese Culture Exploration and Appreciation Series

This series is tailored to middle school and elementary school students, in which hands-on activities related to culture and language, are wrapped in each lesson. By engaging in each well-crafted dynamic and reflective activity in multimedia format, students will be exposed to and experiencing enacted cultural meanings of customs, art, music, philosophy and language. The series can serve as a toolkit to cultural exploration curriculum and enrichment classes. CIMSU is developing this series right now, and 20 units are currently available and more units are being developed and added on a continuous basis.
